Our Dolls

The play is set at the Our Dolls Company, somewhere west of New York and east of Los Angeles, in the present. This is the workroom where the dolls are dressed and boxed. Bitsy and Heather dress dolls for little girls- specifically Hassidic Jewish, conservative Muslim and Roman Catholic little girls. They try to figure out the mysteries of relationships between men and women, as they drape hajibs and shave doll’s heads.

Our Dolls was produced by Shortened Attention Span (Carlo Rivieccio, Artistic Director) as part of the 4th Annual Shortened Attention Span Festival at The Players Loft Theatre, New York City, in June 2010. It was directed by Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum, and featured Emily Louise Parker as Bitsy, and Michelle O’Conner as Heather.

Actors: two women.

The play is in Best Ten Minutes Plays of 2010, published by Smith & Kraus, available from Barnes and Noble. The estimated publication date is December 2011.
